Preparation for the test

The day before the examination, there is no diet restriction. It is recommended to avoid alcohol intake.

The test is performed in the morning (8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.) and after 10-12 hours of fasting.

During these hours, food and drink intake is forbidden (even chewing gums, tea, soft drinks and coffee are forbidden). Only water intake is permitted.

The test is contraindicated in case of serious recent surgery and at least 5 days after the surgery.

If you take steroids (cortisone) or hormonal contraceptives, it is recommended to inform your physician (these drugs affect lipid values) to evaluate differently the results the Fat Tolerance Test).

The LIPOTEST meal should be consumed in less than five (5) minutes.

Four (4) hours after the end of the meal blood triglyceride levels are measured and if they are higher than 220 mg / dl, then the Fat Tolerance Test is positive.
